Causes of Back Pain
There are many causes of back pain. Some causes include issues with the spine, injuries and accidents, degenerative disc disease, lifestyle choices, and disc issues, such as bulging discs and herniated discs.
Car accidents, strains, and falls can all lead to chronic back pain. Degenerative disc disease causes spinal discs to shrink, which causes pain as a result of the spine's vertebrae rubbing together. This disease is common with people as they age. Lifestyle choices, including bad posture, a lack of exercise, and repetitive stress or injury all increase a person's risk for developing degenerative disc disease. These daily habits can be easily replaced with better ones to help strengthen the spine.
Symptoms of Back Pain
There are several symptoms of back pain. These symptoms include middle and lower back chronic pain from standing or sitting for a long time, stiffness along the spine that doesn't go away, an inability to stand straight without muscle spasms or pain in the lower back, sharp pains in lower or upper back, or neck soreness after physical activity or lifting something heavy.
Back Pain Treatment
We offer back pain treatment here at Perron Chiropractic. Dr. Perron uses a chiropractic technique known as the Activator Method, also referred to as just "Activator." He has been trained using this technique for over 20 years.
Common chiropractic treatment includes realigning the spine and neck using physical manipulation. Although this method works with many patients, Dr. Perron finds that the activator method is much more effective.
The activator method uses a small instrument that creates small amounts of force on the spine to gently correct any misalignments or subluxations. The activator method can focus on one specific part of the body that needs to be realigned, instead of a larger part.
Contact us if you have any questions about the Activator Method. We are here to help guide you toward a pain-free life!
