Your First Visit
Our office is located in the heart of Reston, in the brown buildings surrounding the old, white Bowman Mansion off of Reston Parkway. You will find plenty of convenient, well-lit parking, right in front of our office.
Upon entering our office, our receptionist will welcome you as a member of our family. We will request that you complete our patient forms located in the New Patient Center. This paperwork provides us with your health history and information on your condition.
Next, you will have a consultation with Dr. Perron to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, and potential treatment options. This initial visit is designed for Dr. Perron to learn more about you, your condition, and expectations to determine how chiropractic care can meet your goals.
After your consultation, Dr. Perron will perform a complete chiropractic examination testing your reflexes and flexibility. Other standard neurological, orthopedic, postural, and physical tests will be performed as well. However, nothing will be done in our office without your consent.
Depending on your specific condition, we may perform an sEMG (or Surface Electromyography) test on you. The sEMG helps us develop the most effective treatment plan for you, and alert us of any serious spinal conditions. Most people are amazed once they see their scan. In some cases, they can even identify their misalignments and degeneration themselves.
Report of Findings
Once the information is collected and examinations are performed, Dr. Perron will give you a detailed report of all findings and answer any questions including:
- How can you help me?
- How often do I need to come in?
- What will my treatment cost?
After reviewing your health history, goals, and examining your spine and sEMG scan, Dr. Perron will discuss recommendations and notify you if your condition requires care with other providers. Dr. Perron will provide the best treatment and wellness program for your needs.
At the conclusion of this initial appointment, you can choose to experience your first treatment. This includes a full-body chiropractic adjustment using an Activator Adjusting Instrument. The Activator Method Chiropractic Technique is a gentle, low-force approach to chiropractic care. This unique hand-held instrument provides a controlled, fast thrust that is comfortable for the patient and extremely effective and specific for the doctor. Treatment is interactive, so you can express concerns about the different styles of treatment anytime.
Prior to leaving, Dr. Perron will suggest immediate, short-term solutions to incorporate outside of treatment. If you are in pain when you first come into our office this may include: ice or heat application instructions, certain activities or positions to avoid, and at home exercises and/or stretches. Every person is unique, therefore everyone requires a customized wellness plan. During the course of your treatment, Dr. Perron will work with you to achieve good spinal alignment, have a healthy diet, exercise, and maintain a positive mental state.
New patients often remark how "homey" our practice is. That's what we want - because our goal is to offer state-of-the-art chiropractic care in a safe, comfortable surrounding. So go ahead, make yourself at home!
